When delivering complex and important messages, gaining your audience's attention is key. What I call corporate comedy (and specifically impersonation) is one method that has proven successful for me. I define corporate comedy as amusing material that has been custom written to encompass the specific elements of the company and it's culture. Corporate comedy is usually delivered by a professional corporate comedian or corporate entertainer , the goal being to further the meeting's objectives. As a corporate entertainer, I have added corporate comedy to the meetings of companies that include Apple Computers, Coca Cola, and Textron Financial. They have all reaped significant bottom line results, such as improved employee morale and increased customer sales. -And that REALLY left a smile on their faces!
While adding corporate comedy can be very rewarding, the type and focus is very specific. Satire is almost never the goal. Any corporate comedian or corporate entertainer worth their salt will tell you that corporate comedy is a delightful delivery system for your important messages. The rule is that corporate comedy is always positive, and constructed to build up your culture and message - and never to tear anything down. You may want to interview any perspective corporate entertainer, or corporate comedian prior to hiring him to make sure that his particular kind of corporate comedy is right for you – and get specific.
You may think that a foray into customized corporate comedy or in working with a corporate comedian or corporate entertainer is an expensive one. It doesn't have to be. There are event production houses as well as many corporate comedians and impersonators that will help you add corporate comedy at a reasonable cost. Remember, a corporate entertainer who specializes in corporate comedy is usually someone who loves what they do, and will often go the extra mile for you. And the best news is, when you add the right type of corporate comedy, performed by just the right corporate entertainer, you are certain to positively and memorably deliver your message and even leave them wanting more.
